Hungkuang University Multimedia Game Development and Applications students achieve fruitful internship results, stepping into the workplace ahead of graduation
Hungkuang University’s Department of Multimedia Game Development and Applications has dedicated great effort to supporting its first group of interns since the department’s transformation over three years ago. More than ten outstanding internship opportunities were secured for the senior students, spanning across AI-integrated marketing, gaming companies, animation studios, and cultural institutions.
After completing the 8-week internship program, the students received high recognition from the host organizations. Some students were offered employment at gaming companies, others were invited to collaborate with animation studios, and a few even received internship scholarships from their companies.
The internship outcomes have proven to be highly fruitful, showcasing both the talent of the students and the strong industry connections cultivated by the department.
Chair of the Department of Multimedia Game Development and Applications at Hungkuang University, Professor Kuo-Long Yang, stated that in response to the rapid growth of the animation, comics, gaming, and e-sports industries, the university transformed its Department of Information Management into the current Multimedia Game Development and Applications Department more than three years ago.
The former chair, Associate Professor Ming-Kun Liu, is a cross-disciplinary master in the ACG field (Animation, Comics, and Games), with over 30 years of creative experience. During his tenure as chair, he leveraged his strong industry network to secure over ten internship opportunities. This initiative allowed the very first group of students to complete their internships successfully, receiving high praise from participating companies.
One such student, Li-Jen Chang, a senior, interned at a subsidiary game company under InterServ. Chang shared that he has loved gaming since childhood and intends to pursue a career in the field, which motivated him to choose a gaming company for his internship. His work primarily involved game testing, such as observing character skill interactions, ensuring data balance, and analyzing map structures. Over time, he gained deeper insights and was recognized by the company, which offered to retain him after the internship.
Since seniors have relatively fewer course requirements, Chang scheduled all his classes on Mondays, allowing him to work at the company from Tuesday through Friday—effectively stepping into the professional gaming industry ahead of graduation.
