Sixteen faculty members and students from Hungkuang University’s Department of Multimedia Game Development and Applications spent six days at Japan’s AMPS International Animation Academy, where they were personally taught animation techniques by Kimiharu Obata, the key animator behind classics such as Detective Conan. Two students’ works were highly praised by Obata, who also presented them with autographed pieces of his artwork.
Department Chair Dr. Kuo-Long Yang stated that this is the second consecutive year the department has sent faculty and students to Japan for advanced study. Next year, in addition to workshops, six students will be selected for internships in Japan, including visits to animation studios and voice acting companies, helping them connect directly with the international anime industry.
